This Summer, Bring More Balance to Your Healthcare Career

Looking for a fresh start this summer? Imagine a role where you can continue making a real difference to people's lives while enjoying a healthier work-life balance, structured hours, and the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

If you're a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Paramedic, this could be the career move you've been waiting for.

Our client delivers fair, high-quality, and compassionate assessments for individuals applying for the Government's Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Their mission is simple yet powerful: ensuring every person feels heard, respected, and supported throughout their journey.

Whether you're looking to step away from long shifts, reduce the physical demands of frontline care, or simply enjoy more time for yourself, your family, and the things you love this summer, this rewarding opportunity allows you to continue using your clinical expertise in a meaningful new way.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Functional Assessor, you'll use your healthcare knowledge in a fresh and rewarding setting.

You'll conduct a mixture of:

  • Telephone assessments
  • Video assessments
  • Face-to-face assessments
  • Paper-based reviews

Your role will be to understand how an individual's health condition or disability impacts their day-to-day life and independence.

Working within a hybrid model, you'll spend some of your time working from home, attending your local assessment centre on scheduled days as required.

You'll produce detailed, evidence-based reports (typically 3,000–4,000 words) that support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in their decision-making process. Every assessment gives you the opportunity to apply your clinical judgement with empathy, professionalism, and impartiality.

No previous assessment experience in functional assessing? No problem. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will set you up for success from day one.

Training & Support

We want you to feel confident and supported throughout your journey.

You'll benefit from:

  • Structured training programme, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
  • Comprehensive preparation for assessments and report writing
  • A dedicated mentor throughout your first six months
  • Ongoing coaching, feedback, and development support
  • A welcoming and supportive team environment designed to help you thrive

Salary & Benefits

Your rewards include:

  • Starting salary of £39,500
  • Increase to £40,500 upon DWP approval
  • Performance and quality-based bonus scheme available after approval
  • Clear and transparent career progression opportunities
  • Significantly enhanced work-life balance compared to traditional clinical roles
  • Hybrid working model, offering greater flexibility and routine

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • The right to work in the UK without sponsorship requirements or restrictions
  • A minimum of one year's post-registration experience as a Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Paramedic
  • Full NMC or HCPC registration with a valid, unrestricted PIN
  • Excellent communication, listening, and observational skills
  • Typing speed of at least 32 words per minute
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and remote platforms such as MS Teams
  • A balanced, compassionate, and professional approach to assessments

Please note: Due to the nature of this role, we are currently unable to consider applications from Paediatric Nurses.
